POA celebrates Volunteer Month with thanks, picnic for volunteers

On Sunday, April 30, the Big Canoe POA and its Programs and Events committee hosted a picnic for the many volunteers who help make Big Canoe a very special place.

April is National Volunteer Month, a time to say “thank you” and celebrate the contributions of volunteers everywhere.

“We invited about 400 volunteers and their spouses to the picnic held in and around the Canoe Lodge,” said Kim Cooper, manager of the POA’s community events and programs committee. “The volunteers invited had donated talent and hours to POA committees and/or special events.

As the thank you" gift, guests received a potted plant as a "Thank you for helping Big Canoe bloom!"

Special thanks to Steve Wilson, POA board vice president, and Palmer Howard, Big Canoe Membership director, who volunteered their skills as grill masters for the event.
