Plans are to bring a medical helicopter to the field, the K-9 unit from Pickens County with other Pickens and Dawson firefighters participating in safety demonstrations and rescue events. Kids can put water on a “burning house.” Fire equipment will be available for hands-on display and the new sprinkler demo burn trailer.

This year’s fund raiser goal is to help the Big Canoe Fire Department build a training center that will allow firefighters to safely hone their skills through the utilization of on-site training facility modules. These modules would include live-fire simulators for structures, fuels, vehicles, and water drafting. The training site will be on Hubbard Road, the POA property across Steve Tate from the North Gate, near Dawson Station Six.

Continued improvement of Big Canoe’s firefighters’ skills and training help to keep good ISO insurance ratings for property in the community. All contributions to this fund raiser go towards maintaining the highest possible standards of public safety.

Tax deductible checks may be made payable to Firefighters, BCVFD, Inc. and placed in the postal facility alpha box marked BCVFD or mailed to Box 10586 Big Canoe, 30143, GA.

For further information, contact Eric Lindblom Director, Firefighters, BCVFD, Inc. Phone 706-579-5012.
