On board BC’s Eclipse Express

While Big Canoe residents got a good view of the eclipse Monday afternoon from their property, 96 others took a field trip to Hiawassee on two large buses. There was a waiting list of 42 who didn’t get their reservation in time to make the trip.

The charter buses wisely left at 9 a.m. and traveled back roads for the two- and- a- half hour trip to the Georgia Fairgrounds. Coming back however, they made the mistake of returning via Hwy 515 and found themselves with the crowded masses of cars, campers and buses. At 6 p.m. the Big Canoe bus riders were still 20 miles north of Ellijay; tired but happy to have been a part of the great eclipse excitement.
