The Georgia House of Representatives unanimously passed House Bill 671 to help protect Georgia’s official insect, the honey bee. A specialty vehicle license plate will be created to display the image of a Honey Bee with the phrase “Save the honey bee.” The tag will promote and help conserve and protect the insect needed to pollinate crops.

All proceeds from the sales of the license plates will be distributed to Georgia Beekeepers Assn. Funds will be used to raise awareness about honey bee conservation and to fund and support several association programs including beekeeper education and training, prison beekeeping, grants to beekeepers non- profit organizations and beekeeping research facilities in the state.
