Bear Society delivers a busy October
By Bob Mackey
Big Canoe’s Black Bear Society has planned a busy October.
For the seventh consecutive year, the Bear Society will have a prominent presence at Big Canoe’s Oktoberfest, Oct. 13. Oktoberfest is an important event in the history of the Bear Society; it is where the club’s founding members introduced the idea of a fun group, open to all, to promote fellowship and support the Pub. The first 60 members joined that day. Bear Society membership now exceeds 500 members.
The Bear Society’s booth will have free beer samples, an anniversary cake and applications for membership. Also, applications for the “Bearly Running” race and race T-shirt order forms will be available.
On Oct. 26, our annual “Bearly Running” race and party will take place at the clubhouse and on the Veranda. The action will commence with “The Big Race” at approximately 5:45 p.m. As usual, participants will be treated to the nutritious combo of a donut and a beer after completing the run.
Following the run, there will be great food, music, drink, dancing and, maybe, some Halloween shenanigans. Chef Hector and staff have been hitting it out of the park with creative menus and great meals, so make your dinner reservations, enjoy some amazing food and get set for music on the Veranda. Modern Vinyl will begin at 7 p.m. The band has promised to bring its A game and give us a good show.
Bear Society parties are as popular as ever. Circle the 26th and plan on joining the fun.
All are welcome to Bear Society events.
