Giorgio’s Family Kitchen, a fixture in Cumming, Georgia’s Lakeland Plaza since 1991, will open a second location next year.

The new restaurant will be located just north of the North Georgia Premium Outlets, on presently vacant land at the corner of Industrial Park Road and Northside Dawson Drive. It will be a free-standing structure and  “the current plans as submitted do show it to be one of the largest free standing restaurants yet to be built in Dawson County,” according to Charlie Auvermann, executive director, Development Authority of Dawson County.

Sources say construction of the restaurant is expected to begin in late September with plans to open by late spring 2018.

“We are extremely pleased to have such a famous family restaurant as Giorgio’s look to Dawson County for their first major expansion,” Auvermann said. “The Cumming location is an icon for family dining in our region and we think the new Dawson location will add significantly to their reputation for fine food and warm atmosphere.  Giorgio’s is a very welcome addition to our community.”

Constantine Tzortzis, whose family owns Giorgio’s, appeared on season seven of the ABC reality show “The Bachelorette” that aired in 2011 and featured Ashley Hebert. He is married to Rachel McDowall and father of Olive Elleni, who will be three in October.

His parents, Dimitri and Elleni, are third generation restaurant owners with Dimitri’s family owning restaurants in Chattanooga, Chicago and Nashville. Elleni’s family has owned restaurants in Georgia since 1956. Giorgio’s offers Greek, Italian and American fare and is famous for its carry out pizza which is always BOGO.
